Agropur is currently seeking an Environmental Specialist 

 

Job Summary

The Environmental Specialist is responsible for all aspects of operation of the waste water treatment plant including knowledge of pumps, valves, controls, employee schedules, and basic lab tests as well as the ability to troubleshoot process equipment in the treatment process.  The Environmental Specialist must be able to respond quickly and effectively in difficult situations.  The position also requires the preparation of reports in a timely and accurate manner.   This position will primarily oversee the wastewater program, however, they will be responsible for overseeing all other site environmental programs including air, stormwater, waste, etc. Other job duties of this position require the ability to develop and maintain positive public relations with other departments, government agencies, landowners, and vendors.

  

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Daily Operation of Waste Water Treatment Plant
  • Daily Sampling and Lab Analysis
  • Supervision of waste water treatment employees including scheduling, coaching, mentoring, discipline, etc. as required
  • Maintenance and upkeep of process equipment
  • Daily operation changes
  • Record keeping of lab analysis, flows, maintenance items
  • Order chemicals, lab supplies, spare parts
  • Site environmental reporting responsbilities as assigned (exampled: Tier 2, Form R, Annual Air Emmissions Inventory)
  • Work with local, state, and federal agencies on compliance issues and public complaints 
  • Prepare monthly and annual discharge and other regulatory reports 
  • Train other plant personnel on environmental job duties and responsbilities 
  • Keep abreast of current developments in environmental regulations
  • Act as plant liason for regulatory inspections and inquiries

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum level of education/training required: Associates degree in waste water or water technology, or equivalent, is preferred.
  • Minimum experience required:  3-4 years of experience required in waste water treatment.
  • License or certificate required: Minnesota wastewater operator Class II license required.
