Agropur is looking for a qualified automation/electrical technician:

Job Summary: Automation technicians repair and maintain the computer-controlled systems and robotic devices used within industrial and commercial facilities to reduce human intervention and maximize efficiency. Their duties require knowledge of electronics, mechanics and computers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the everyday automation activities of the manufacturing plant.
  • Responsible for installation and testing of systems. 
  • Responsible for maintenance, inspections, and modification of automation equipment, technologies and processes. 
  • Make program changes as needed to help the production areas run more efficiently.
  • Resolves and repairs all system faults and anomalies.
  • Help plant production personnel troubleshoot production problems. 
  • Provide technical assistance for automation problems to operators, and managers.
  • Calibrate instruments throughout the plant.
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance of electrical circuits.
  • Install new electrical circuits.
  • Bend and install electrical conduit following all appropriate local and national codes.
  • Responsible for maintenance, inspections, and modification of electrical equipment, technologies and processes.
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits, motors and equipment controls.  
  • Help plant production personnel troubleshoot production problems.
  • Understanding of and compliance with all Quality Assurance policies, and immediate reporting of any potential food safety issues to management.



Other Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Safety Protocol
      • Stop any observed unsafe acts, and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
      • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
      • Support safety policies and programs.



 Education Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent       

Experience Required:

  • One or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Certification/Licensure Required:

  • Journeyman electrical certification preferred.  

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, RS Logix 500 / 5000, Wonderware and Outlook.
  • Ability to calibrate, and understand multiple instruments and systems.
  • Knowledge and application of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Ability to pay strong attention to detail and multitask effectively.
  • Knowledge/ Ability to read and understand electrical prints.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, procedures and related documents as needed).
  • Ability to pay strong attention to detail multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
  • Requires the ability to communicate and document work in English.
  • Track and maintain information on a database.Be able to move up and down stairs
  • Occasionally move up to 50 pounds.
  • Able and willing to work at heights of 80 feet or more.
  • Able and willing to work in confined spaces.
  • Able and willing to work in Cold or Hot environments.
  • Able and willing to work on ladders.
  • Be able to work while bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching.
  • Be able to work the shift assigned and fill in other shifts as needed.
  • Be able to work weekends (including Saturday and Sunday) and off shifts if needed or assigned.
