Agropur is looking for an Evaporator/Separator Supervisor.


Essential Functions Include the Following:

  • Manages 24/7/365 operation of workers and equipment in the production of high quality/ high value whey products, while applying learned knowledge of processes involved and production methods.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in dairy liquid processing handled at the highest level of quality. The emphasis of this position is in the separation and evaporation of whey.
  • Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve quality and efficiency of the department.
  • Analyze lab data and react accordingly data trending.  
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
  • Carry out duties as requested by Plant Manager and Whey Manager.
  • Good mechanical skills with ability to communicate and work with maintenance department so that all equipment is maintained at the highest level to reduce unnecessary down time.
  • Ensures all areas of responsibility are following company standard GMP's in their daily production runs.
  • Able to complete and/or assist in the duties of all jobs related to production when circumstances demand.
  • Manage reporting of yields, solids recovery and maximize opportunities.
  • Will perform performance reviews of employees.
  • Understand and obey all Good Manufacturing Practice.
  • Working knowledge of department QA SOPs and other.
  • Trains employees in work methods and procedures.
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
  • Ensure that all routine functions and mandatory paperwork are performed accurately and completed at the required frequencies.
  • Address any human resource needs, relating to those being supervised, (in a timely manner) ensuring proper documentation and communication with necessary parties and HR department.
  • Work with plant, corporate and client personnel to resolve day-to-day production tasks/needs as they arise.
  • Conduct work in a safe manner and abide by all company safety policies.

Technical Competencies:

  • Proficient in Microsoft office as well as basic math and basic algebra..
  • Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and sampling requirements.
  • Practical experience in and working knowledge of, the operations of dairy plant membrane, evaporation and drying equipment.
  • Ability to mass balance unit operations.
  • Understanding of Corporate and Plant QA policies including implementation and accountability to the policies.



  • BS Degree in a science related field or a minimum of 3+ years' experience in a food production plant.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Completion of related college courses a plus.


Non-technical Competencies:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Requires the ability to communicate and document work.
  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
  • Daily use of communication via email, telephone, in written form, or in person.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to pay strong attention to detail and multitask effectively.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication.
  • Able to work within and also lead a teamwork based environment.


Work Conditions

  • Track and maintain information on a database.
  • Be able to move up and down stairs.
  • Occasionally move up to 40 pounds.
  • Able and willing to work at heights of 80 feet or more.
  • Able and willing to work ability to work in refrigerated conditions for extended periods
  • Be able to work at floor level, waist level, and shoulder level repetitively.
  • Be able to work the shift assigned and fill in other shifts as needed.
  • Be able to work weekends (including Saturday and Sunday) and off shifts if needed or assigned.
