Agropur is looking for a Lab Assistant


Job Summary:

To develop and understand the cheese and whey making process in order to understand the various tests that are run in the lab. The ability to analyze test results and determine if changes need to be made in the cheese and whey making process in order to meet with regulatory and customer specifications.  In addition, to work safely in a team oriented environment is essential. Knowledge with computers and lab equipment are a must.


Minimum qualifications:

  • Prefer science education and/or lab experience. 

 Duties and responsibilities:

  •  Ensure that both raw and finished product meet customer and agency specifications in order to produce a quality product.
  • Responsible for various tests on raw and finished good including but not limited to protein, moisture, salt levels, temperatures, fat, and pH.
  • Perform microbiological tests on finished product and in line sample-aerobic plate count, coliforms, E. coli, yeast and mold.
  • Aseptically prepare samples that will be tested for pathogens at an external laboratory.
  • Communicate results with QA Supervisor.
  • Prepare media and perform QC checks.
  • Operate autoclave.
  • Ensure lab area is clean and safe.
  • Responsible for making sure equipment is calibrated correctly; results are recorded
  • Ensure confidentiality.
