Agropur is hiring for a Material Expertise Specialist - Non-Dairy Ingredients.

 

Position Summary

Develop market intelligence on plant-based ingredients, proteins, and other non-dairy ingredients. In addition, assists with other departmental daily functions as needed.  This position could be held in La Crosse or Appleton, WI.

 

Essential Functions include the following:

  • Develop new suppliers/vendors, work with existing supply base, sales, and clients; all to manage supply & market risk and bring new cost out productivity to the category.
  • Support the Ingredients Business approximately 75% of the time and Agropur globally 25% of the time; all within the vision of Global Agropur Strategic Vision.
  • Support business food safety prerequisites within the vendor community with a focus on FSMA (USA) and GFSI requirements.
  • Develop potential Market Risk Management (MRM) strategies working with Agropur market hedging expert. 
  • Confer with vendors to obtain market information to support company strategy.
  • Monitor & analyze non-dairy ingredients markets to understand market conditions and identify optimal buying opportunities.  Provide updates as needed.
  • Support qualification of new ingredients.
  • Updates knowledge and develops professionally on a continuing basis.   

Other job related duties may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.

 

Technical Competencies: 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Windows, MS Office Suite including; Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, internet/intranet and other organizational specific software.
  • Experience using office equipment including printer, 10-key calculator, fax/copy machine, multiline/voicemail telephone system and others as needed. 

 

Non-technical Competencies:

  • Regular contact with almost all employees, customers, and vendors for the purpose of obtaining and providing information. 
  • Key interfaces include Category Manager-Non Dairy Ingredients, Category Director-Dairy Ingredients, La Crosse Operations, Innovation, Supply Chain, SS&D, QA, & Regulatory teams. 
  • Excellent written and communication skills in English (priority) and French (preferred). Ability to prioritize work and manage workload to achieve objectives.  Natural leadership & influence skills.  Strong analytical skills.
  • Reasoning skills:  follow written, verbal and/or diagrammatic instructions; solve practical problems; interpret verbal and written instructions; scientific thinking to solve problems including abstract and concrete variables; address practical problems; comprehend most complex concepts. 
  • Math skills:  basic math plus fractions, decimals, percentages, algebraic calculations, and statistical inference.  Language skills:  exchange basic informational data (fill out forms/checklists, make own appointments, etc.); interview to gather information; advise others on alternatives/options; read, understand and explain technical data; compose routine business correspondence. 
  • Technical ability to input and retrieve computerized information.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or Business related field
  • Four to seven years of experience in a food related industry
  • Experience in procurement or strategic sourcing preferred
