Agropur is currently looking for a Lab Tech at it's Le Sueur Cheese Plant located in Le Sueur, MN.


1 - Part- Time


Job Summary:

Technicians are responsible for supporting production by analyzing a variety of samples using different test methods. Daily tasks include the receipt of samples, determining methods by reviewing procedures and specifications, testing samples, observing for abnormal reactions, documenting, reviewing, and reporting of results, and cleaning and stocking their work area.  Technicians are also responsible for maintaining and calibrating their equipment as well as routine quality control checks. 

Sample types are routine from day to day and technicians are expected to work at a fast pace. The lab is divided into many areas; technicians learn one area at a time and are cross-trained as scheduling allows. Technicians are expected to communicate and interact with each other, their department supervisor, and production effectively and professionally.   

The position entails standing for 8-12 hours shifts, using chemicals and reagents safely, repetitive movements, and lifting occasionally.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows work instructions set forth by Test Procedures (TPs), Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS).
  • Preparation and testing of chemical, physical, and/or microbiogical samples.
  • Equipment operation, calibration, and minor maintenance.
  • Reagent (microbiological and chemical) preparation.
  • Record data in log books and computer spreadsheets.
  • Interpretation of data.
  • Reporting of results.
  • General lab cleanup and organization; restock supplies.
  • Maintains a clean work place that is free of safety hazards.
  • Cleans work stations and equipment as outlined in MSS.
  • Uses proper personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Understands and obeys all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot issues or concerns with the laboratory supervisor or laboratory coordinator.
  • Work professionally with co-workers.
  • Seek out tasks when routine work is completed.
  • Safety Protocol
    • Stop any observed unsafe acts, and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
    • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
    • Support safety policies and programs.

  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Team Oriented.
