Agropur is looking for a Wastewater Treatment Operator.

Essential Functions include the following

  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Operate wastewater treatment system in compliance with company discharge limits.
  • Operates wastewater treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater treatment plant to control flow and processing of wastewater. Monitors control panels and adjusts valves manually or by remote control to regulate flow of influent and chemicals.
  • Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets metered, gauged readings and tests results to determine load requirements.
  • Starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of wastewater through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes.
  • Maintains log of operations and records meter and gauge readings.
  • Assists with and monitors the load-out of sludges.
  • Performs routine inspections of tanks and other associated equipment to ensure mechanical and physical integrity of the system.
  • May perform basic troubleshooting of maintenance/electrical issues as they arise.
  • May collect samples, using dipper or bottle and conduct tests, using testing equipment, such as pH, turbidity and chemical concentrations (bench testing).
  • May operate and maintain power generating equipment to provide air and electricity for plant.
  • May be designated according to specialized activity or stage in processing as Activated-Sludge Operator; Pump-And-Blower Operator; Sludge-Control Operator; Sludge-Filtration Operator.

Secondary Functions include the following:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Technical Competencies:

  • General safe work place practices
  • Basic mechanical competency with standard wastewater equipment to include, pumps, automation, etc.


    • 18 years of age minimum
  • Minimum of 1 year Wastewater Treatment experience or equivalent training/certification strongly preferred.


 Non-technical Competencies:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent decision-making ability.
  • Present a professional, positive and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with customers and co-workers.

Work Conditions

  • Be able to move up and down ladders and stairs.
  • Be able to work at floor level, waist level, and shoulder level.
  • Be able to work the shift assigned and fill in other shifts as needed.
  • Be able to work weekends (including Saturday and Sunday) and off shifts if needed or assigned.
