Supervises:               None

Travel:                     None

Agropur is currently hiring for Starter Operator in our Lake Norden facility

Essential job functions include:

  • Follow and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices at all times.
  • Follow safety procedures and wear required PPE when handling chemicals.
  • Monitor all equipment and recording charts and ensure everything is working correctly.
  • All used sample vials returned to the lab.
  • Perform starter activity tests as needed.
  • Monitor phage results and rotate cultures as needed.
  • Monitor freezer temperatures and record.
  • Completely and accurately fill out all recording charts.
  • Record all required information on the make sheets.
  • Complete CIP of Recon Tank, HTST, and all other equipment that was used during the production run.
  • Record chemical concentration checks during CIP's as required.
  • Perform tasks on Master Sanitation Log as required and record.
  • Keep starter can area, HTST room, and storage room clean.
  • Communicate with supervisor and OO operator any issues, schedule changes, etc.
  • Keep an ingredient inventory and update at least monthly.
  • Must perform all jobs in a safe and efficient manner.

Secondary Functions include the following:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Technical Competencies:

  • Ability to pay strong attention to detail and multitask effectively.
  • Computer Literate.
  • Able to properly document information legibly onto the production and master sanitation log sheets.
  • Understand and obey all Good Manufacturing Practice.
  • Understand and obey all SOP's and Master Sanitation Schedules.

Qualifications:

  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • Good English speaking and writing skills.
  • Good Mechanical aptitude.
  • Food service, food plant or sanitation background preferred.

 

Non-technical Competencies:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Requires the ability to communicate and document work.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.

 

Work Conditions

  • Track and maintain information on a database.
  • Be able to move up and down stairs.
  • Frequently move up to 50 pounds for 12 hour shifts.
  • Able to move above about work stations in a manufacturing environment most of the shift.
  • Be able to work at floor level, waist level, and shoulder level repetitively.
  • Be able to work the shift assigned and fill in other shifts as needed.
  • Be able to work weekends (including Saturday and Sunday) and off shifts if needed or assigned.
  • Able to work at heights
  • Able to work with chemicals.
