Agropur is now looking for a Account Manager I - Health & Wellness to join our team in La Crosse, Wisconsin.


Position Summary

Responsible for the sale of the organization's manufactured or distributed products to all regions of the United States, using technical, organizational, and customer knowledge to influence customers and assist them in applying the products to their needs resulting in revenue generation.  Provide input to Supervisor for planning and implementing sales' goals, both short and long range, targeted toward existing and new markets by performing the following duties.  Negotiate contracts in conjunction with Supervisor to key small and medium sized accounts.  Travel within United States required and available to travel 25% of the time.  Keep consistent contact with targeted customers on multiple levels/departments of their organization as well as prospect daily for new business.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research customer needs and develop application of product for Sales Group in an effective manner by:
    • Determining market strategies and goals for manufactured and ingredient distribution product.
    • Obtaining and coordinating data and information from staff and member groups.
    • Researching and developing list of potential customers, which includes prospecting and cold calling for new      
    • Doing market research to determine customer needs and providing information to other staff.
    • Following up on sales leads and developing leads.
    • Evaluating product marketability in terms of customers' technical needs.
    • Maintaining up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that effect target markets.
    • Establishing and maintaining industry contacts that lead to sales.
    • Working with Sales Coordinators to establish a communication path with customers to ensure sales opportunities for products.
    • Coordinating between sales department and other related departments such as R&D, QA, accounting, etc.
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations and close sales, either alone or with another member of the sales team, in a professional and effective manner by:
    • Developing sales and marketing proposals for customers on technical products and services.
    • Developing technical presentations.
    • Making presentations to customers and representing company at trade shows to promote products.
    • Maintaining up-to-date awareness of activities, industry trends, and government regulations.
    • Acting to close deals and finalize contracts.
    • Meeting established sales quotas and revenue goals.
  • Participate in sales forecasting and planning in an effective manner by:
    • Researching, developing, and maintaining long and short-range sales and marketing plans.
    • Producing regular reports and final plans for Supervisor's review.
    • Monitoring, analyzing, and communicating sales data to contribute to product planning.
  • Develop and maintain communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of staff and customers by:
    • Communicating openly, honestly, constructively and with integrity.
    • Treating all employees and customers with dignity, respect and courtesy
    • Taking responsibility for and making every effort to resolve communication, trust and respect concerns.
    • Asking for information needed to perform job responsibilities.


Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves on committees as needed.
  • Updates knowledge and develops professionally on a continuing basis.   Learn technical food formulation knowledge while in the role.
  • Other job related duties may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.



  • Associate's Degree in Business Administration and/or Marketing or equivalent combination of education/experience required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of sales experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in problem solving and negotiation with special emphasis on closing the sales.
  • Demonstrated capacity to keep abreast of industry trends via internet, periodicals, professional journals, networking, and government regulations.
