Agropur is currently looking for a Cheese Production Supervisor.

Job Summary:

The Cheese Production Supervisor position manages workers and equipment in the production of high quality/ high value cheese products in the plant.  The supervisor is able to work any day any shift even though the shift is for Thursday through Saturday every other Sunday.  He or she will lead a team of 30 employees on nights or weekend shift acting as our point man for any plant issues.  He or she will also exhibit troubleshooting skills necessary to maintain throughput, quality, and production targets.

 The supervisor is responsible for supervising employees and will plan and assign work, as well as enforce policies and procedures.  The supervisor will accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; training, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees when needed.  The supervisor will also need to model and enforce safety and quality for our employees;  the supervisor is also a part of the monitoring and planning of our wastewater system and may help with production when needed. 

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and coordinates workers engaged in the production of cheese, while applying learned knowledge of processes involved and production methods.
  • Plays key role in maintaining the quality of the products produced at our facility.  
  • Trains employees in work methods and procedures.
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs/oversees setup and adjustments of machines.
  • Carries out duties as requested by Cheese Operations and Plant Manager.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in producing dairy products, ensuring all aspects of production are handled at the highest level of quality.
  • Oversees workers in receiving and testing milk and in operations, such as pasteurizing, separating, evaporating, drying, cooling, and storing dairy products.
  • Ensures all areas of the plant are following company standard GMP's in their daily production runs.
  • Drive training and coaching to ensure compliance with Safety standards and incident prevention.
  • Able to complete and/or assist in the duties of all jobs related to production when circumstances demand.
  • On call 24/7 and may be asked to report to the plant during non-regular scheduled hours.
  • Shares responsibility for all aspects of plant functions as it relates to production.
  • Ensure that all routine functions and mandatory paperwork are performed accurately and completed at the required frequencies.
  • May be asked to assist periodic reviews of employees as directed by manager and/or Plant Manager.
  • Address any human resource needs, relating to those being supervised, (in a timely manner) ensuring proper documentation and communication with necessary parties and HR department.
  • Work with plant, corporate and client personnel to resolve day-to-day production tasks/needs as they arise.
  • Examines samples of products, orders changes in cooking temperature, and oversees recipe use.
  • Able to produce specified texture and viscosity of product.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Conduct work in a safe manner and abide by all company safety policies.

  • Daily use of communication via email, telephone, in written form, or in person.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.

 

Qualifications: 

  • BS Degree in a science related field or a minimum of 3+ years' experience in a food production plant.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Completion of related college courses a plus.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and sampling requirements.
  • Ability to pay strong attention to detail and multitask effectively.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, procedures and related documents as needed).
  • Understanding of Corporate and Plant QA policies including implementation and accountability to the policies.
